Formula 1 calendar, TV rights and race betting

Motorsport is the cleanest competition on this site for an international audience: one global calendar, one rights holder per country, no split rounds to decode, and start times that suit European afternoons rather than punishing them.

Where the season stands

The 2026 championship opened at Albert Park on 8 March 2026 and closes at Yas Marina on 6 December 2026, with the penultimate round in Qatar on 29 November. The 2027 calendar has not been published — the encyclopedia page for it does not yet exist — so this page carries the run-in of the current season and nothing invented beyond it. When the next calendar is released, this URL is where it will appear; there will be no separate page per race, because a race preview that lives for a weekend is exactly the disposable content this site does not publish.

One country, one answer

For readers in Britain, Sky carries every practice session, qualifying hour, sprint and Grand Prix on its dedicated channel and its streaming product, while Channel 4 shows highlights of every round free-to-air plus live coverage of the British Grand Prix. The same Sky agreement explicitly covers Ireland, so an Irish reader has the identical subscription answer and none of the free-to-air race coverage.

In the United States the picture changed this season: Apple now carries all practice, qualifying, sprint races and Grands Prix through its television app, with selected races and every practice session available free inside that app, and the sport's own premium streaming tier included with a subscription. For Finland — this site's baseline geography — the rights sit with Viaplay Group, and the detail that catches people out is the tier: motorsport lives in the top subscription package, not the mid one.

Race markets, and why they are less simple than they look

A twenty-car field with two or three plausible winners produces short favourites and a long tail, which shapes everything:

  • Qualifying is a separate market with separate logic. One-lap pace and race pace diverge, and books price them independently. That is where a considered opinion is worth more than in the outright.
  • Retirement rules decide payouts. Whether a bet stands if a driver fails to start, or is void after a formation-lap failure, differs by operator. Read the motorsport rules once and you will never be surprised again.
  • Podium and points markets carry the smaller margin. Head-to-heads and top-six finishes are usually priced tighter than the outright winner, where the favourite absorbs the overround.
  • Safety cars and weather are the variance. Specials on a safety-car appearance are entertainment priced as a coin flip that is not one — they carry some of the fattest margins on the card.

Timing, for once, in your favour

Most races start between 14:00 and 17:00 in Helsinki, an hour or two earlier in Dublin. Unlike every American league on this site, this is a competition an audience across Europe can watch live — which makes in-play a genuine option rather than a trap, provided your feed is not delayed. If you use in-play, read our live betting page first; if you bet outrights, the value bet calculator is the fastest way to see whether a price is worth the stake.

No operator record on this site currently states that it prices motorsport, so the list above is empty and the page stays out of search until three do. The full list of betting sites is the place to start meanwhile, and the betting guide covers the staking arithmetic that matters more than any single race.

18+ and a straight word on the margin

18+, or the legal age where you live. An outright race market is commonly priced with a double-digit overround once the whole field is added up — far more than a football match result. Bet the markets you understand, keep the stake small enough to be irrelevant to your week, and use the responsible gambling resources if it stops being a way to enjoy a Sunday.
