Golf majors 2027: dates, TV and each-way terms

Four weeks that decide the year

The 2027 majors run in their usual order: Augusta in April, the PGA Championship in May, the U.S. Open in June and The Open in July, the last of those at St Andrews. None of the four had published exact 2027 dates on the pages we opened, so the block above carries months and a venue rather than invented date ranges. Between them these four weeks account for most of the year's golf betting turnover, which is why the terms below repay reading once, properly.

An honest rights map, mostly full of holes

For the United States we can source the Masters split: CBS carries the weekend rounds and ESPN the early ones, across television and streaming. For Ireland an older source names a domestic carrier for all four rounds, and we have marked that row as low confidence because it comes from an encyclopedia rather than the broadcaster.

For Britain and Finland we confirmed nothing at all. The British passages we found describe historical arrangements from decades ago, not the current deal; the Finnish sport indexes we opened contain no golf listing. For the other three majors in the United States we could not confirm a current holder either. This is the thinnest coverage of any competition in our map, and rather than paper over it with the channels a reader would expect, we are telling you that a broadcaster's own listing is the only reliable check before major week.

The terms that decide golf bets

Nowhere else in betting does the small print swing the return this much:

• Each-way places vary wildly. One book pays five places at a fifth of the odds, another eight at a fifth, another six at a quarter. On a 150-strong field that is a bigger difference than any price improvement on the same golfer.
• Dead heats cut returns. Ties for the last paying place are settled by dividing the stake by the number tied. It is not a mistake by the operator; it is the rule, and it surprises people every year.
• Non-runner rules differ. Withdrawal after the first tee shot usually means a losing bet, before it usually means a void — but check, because "usually" is doing work in that sentence.
• Extra places are real value, when they are real. A promotion adding two places to an outright is one of the few operator offers that genuinely improves the expected return, provided the odds have not been shortened to pay for it.

Timing and what we list

Three of the four majors are played in the United States, so the decisive back nine falls between roughly 21:00 and midnight in Helsinki and an hour or two earlier in Dublin — late, but watchable. The Open, played in Britain or Ireland, is the one that suits a European afternoon.
