Ligue 1 on TV: the league sells its own service
French football is the one competition in our map where the league sells you the subscription directly in two of our countries — and where a bookmaker turns up in the broadcast listings. Both facts need explaining carefully.
We may receive compensation from operators if you sign up via the links on this page. This does not affect our ratings or which operators we list. How we make money

The season
The 2026/27 campaign began on 21 August 2026 and finishes on 29 May 2027. Rounds run from Friday to Sunday, with the headline fixture in the Sunday evening slot — 19:45 French time, which is 18:45 UTC, 20:45 in Helsinki and 19:45 in Dublin. It is a comfortable watch across this site's whole readership, and one of the reasons the league travels better than its reputation suggests.
A direct-to-consumer answer in Britain and Ireland
The most unusual row in this map: in Britain and Ireland the rights sit with the league's own subscription service, carrying every match. There is no intermediary sports broadcaster to shop between — you buy from the competition or you do not watch it. For a viewer that is simpler and often cheaper than a full sports package; for anyone used to comparing pay-TV bundles it is a genuinely different purchase.
In Finland the league sits with Viaplay, covering all matches. In the United States the rights are with beIN Sports, including its free advertising-supported channel and a third-party streaming distributor. Those rows come from the league's encyclopedia entry, so verify the exact packaging on the service's own page before subscribing — the platform names are the reliable part.
When a bookmaker appears in the listings
Our source also lists a sportsbook as a legitimate outlet for this competition in two of our four countries. That is unusual enough to be worth stating precisely, because it is the single most misunderstood line in sports streaming:
- A bookmaker stream is not a subscription. It requires a funded account, and typically a bet placed within the previous twenty-four hours.
- It is geo-restricted to the territories where the operator holds the right, and those change season to season.
- It runs behind the live broadcast. Betting in-play on a delayed picture means you are reacting to something the market has already priced.
- It exists to keep you betting. That is not a scandal — it is the business model — but it is the reason to choose an operator on price and payout speed rather than on whether it shows a match.
Used knowingly, it is a real convenience for a league whose rights are otherwise fragmented. Used as a reason to open an account, it is an expensive way to watch football.
Betting a league with one big favourite
Concentrated strength at the top compresses match-result prices and pushes the interesting markets elsewhere: handicaps and team totals in the mismatches, and the race for the European places, which is more competitive than the title in most seasons. The mid-table is modelled less carefully by books outside France than the equivalent fixtures in England or Spain, which is exactly where comparing two or three prices earns its minute. Use the margin calculator to see what a market is charging, and the value bet calculator to check whether a price justifies the stake.
What we list, and what we refuse
No operator record on this site names coverage of this league, so nothing is listed above and the page stays out of the index until at least three do. We also do not name or link unlicensed streams — unlawful in every country this site is read in, and a documented route to malware and payment fraud. Start at the list of betting sites, or the Premier League page for the competition where this site's operator coverage is deepest.
18+ and gambling responsibly
18+, or the legal age where you are. Operator availability depends on your country and each publishes its own licence details. Free international support is listed on our responsible gambling page. A stream tied to a bet is still a bet — treat it as one.
