T20 World Cup: the next edition is 2028

The tournament you are looking for has already been played

The most recent men's edition ran from 7 February to 8 March 2026 and is finished. The next one is scheduled for 21 October to 19 November 2028, hosted by Australia and New Zealand. There is no edition inside the current season at all, which means any page, preview or bonus offer you see this winter promising World Cup coverage is either about a different competition or is selling you something on a name.

That distinction matters more in cricket than in most sports, because the international calendar carries several tournaments with similar names in different formats — a men's and a women's edition, a fifty-over world event and a twenty-over one, plus continental championships. When you read "World Cup odds" in a promotion, check which competition and which format before the stake goes on.

No broadcaster to name yet, and we will not guess one

For the 2028 edition, nothing has been confirmed for any of the countries this site covers. The tournament's own encyclopedia entry carries dates and hosts and no broadcasting section at all. One trade report suggests an American rights arrangement expiring before the tournament takes place, but the article itself would not open for us, so we treat it as a lead rather than a fact.

The pattern from previous editions is that rights are announced market by market, usually within the year before the tournament. When that happens, this page will carry the broadcaster, the coverage phrase and the source URL, exactly as our other competition pages do — and not before.

What to do with a two-year gap

• Ignore outright markets this far out. Books do price a tournament winner two years ahead. The margin on those markets is enormous and your money is dead for twenty-four months.
• Follow the format that is actually on. Franchise Twenty20 runs almost continuously, and the mechanics — rain rules, toss impact, player markets — are the same skills.
• Watch for the qualifying pathway. Regional qualifiers decide the field and get priced thinly, which cuts both ways: less efficient markets, but also less information available to you than to the book.
• Treat any "World Cup special" offer with suspicion. A promotion named after a tournament that is not being played is a marketing hook, not an edge.
