There is no World Cup qualifying campaign this season

The World Cup was played from 11 June to 19 July 2026 and is finished. What fills the international windows now is the Nations League league phase — matchdays running from 24 September through to mid-November 2026 — followed by the League A quarter-finals and the promotion and relegation play-offs from 25 to 30 March 2027, and the Nations League finals from 9 to 13 June 2027. European Championship qualifying for 2028 then starts on 26 March 2027, with its draw held in Belfast on 6 December 2026.

That matters practically, not pedantically. A promotion advertising "World Cup qualifier odds" this autumn is either about South American fixtures or is trading on a name; and a search for a national team's next match returns three different competitions with different broadcasters. Check the competition before the channel.

Free-to-air, more than anywhere else in football

International football is the one place where the answer is often "no subscription required". In Finland the rights are split between the commercial broadcaster, Viaplay and the public broadcaster, with the national team's matches carried free-to-air by the latter. In Britain, ITV carries England and Wales qualifiers free-to-air across its channels and streaming player, with Welsh-language coverage on S4C. In Ireland, Virgin Media Television has the Republic's European qualifiers free-to-air through its player, while RTÉ carries World Cup qualifying on its channel and player.

In the United States the split runs by confederation: Fox Sports and Fubo carry European qualifying, while the Turner networks and their streaming service carry South American World Cup qualifying alongside two specialist streaming services.

Two gaps we are naming

For British readers we could not confirm a rights holder for World Cup qualifying matches that do not involve England — the listings page returned no dated broadcaster block — and for Finland we could not confirm one for World Cup qualifying at all. Both were searched and both came back empty, so this page says so rather than guessing at the obvious candidates. When those pages publish a dated block, the rows will appear above with the date they were read.

Betting international football, which is its own skill

• Mismatches dominate. Qualifying groups pair continental powers with the smallest federations, producing handicaps and team totals rather than meaningful match markets — and handicap lines that vary noticeably between books.
• Motivation is unpriceable. A dead rubber in the final window is the classic trap: form says one thing, a rested second-string eleven does another.
• Withdrawals are constant. Club players pull out of squads all week. Player markets placed early carry a real void risk — read the operator's rule.
• Coupon products meet fixed odds here. In Finland the weekly state-operated football pool is a familiar way to play a full round; it pays a share of the pool rather than a price the book set, so line shopping simply does not apply to it. Knowing which of the two you are playing is the first decision, not a detail.
