Thirteen numbered cards and thirty Fight Nights

There is no season here — the promotion runs year-round — but the shape of the year is fixed by contract. The American media agreement announced by the promotion sets the annual calendar at thirteen numbered events and thirty Fight Nights. Main cards typically start between 02:00 and 04:00 in Helsinki and an hour earlier in Dublin, with the preliminary bouts several hours before that. For a European viewer this is a Saturday-night-into-Sunday product, and the smart version of it is watching the replay rather than betting live at four in the morning.

The one fact most readers get wrong

In the United States, the promotion's cards moved to a streaming service that carries every event, with selected numbered cards simulcast on network television, and the traditional pay-per-view charge for those events was dropped. That is a genuinely new, dated fact — and it is American only.

In the United Kingdom the rights sit with TNT Sports and its streaming product; our Irish row records the same holder but is marked lower confidence, because the source we opened describes the British package and does not name Ireland separately. For Finland we found no current rights holder at all: the only Finnish reference on the pages we read was a historical note about a magazine show, which is not a live-rights fact. So a page telling a Finnish or British reader that "the fights are free now" would simply be false, and this one does not.

Markets that behave differently from team sport

• Two outcomes, big favourites. A heavy favourite at a short price is normal here, and the margin the book takes on a lopsided pair is easy to miss. Compare the underdog price across operators — that is where the difference actually shows.
• Method and round markets carry the real overround. Fight-ends-by props are priced generously to the house because they are hard to model and fun to bet.
• Short-notice replacements are routine. Read the operator's rule on a changed opponent: most void the bet, some settle on the new matchup, and the difference matters on a card where two bouts change in fight week.
• Judging is variance you cannot model away. Decision outcomes in close rounds are close to a coin flip, which is an argument for smaller stakes on go-the-distance markets, not a bigger opinion.
